My ancient Egypt

ancient Egypt is a place i feel very close to and i often daydream of visiting the

olde land.

it is a place of many, many secrets, alot of which i am sure have not yet been uncovered.

this handsome beast is anubis.

he is the first ancient god i felt drawn to.

he is a very special diety to me and always will be.

my wee poem..

IN THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT...

the nights were warm,
the days were hot,
the sun-god shone so brightly,
and all around the desert sands,
the winds would change their shapes,
in the land that time forgot..

pharoahs, kings and queens,
and common people too,
were happy in the land of dreams,
i was here,, were you here too?
in the land that time forgot..

the pyramids are built now,
pharoah is a happy man,
as everyone in egypt can,
see the monument to man,
in the land that time forgot..

the Nile, she is a beauty
the life blood of all Egypt,
the farmers toil and work the field,
the women take the water home,
in the land that time forgot..

the pharoah's time has come,
the procession makes it's way,
to place the dead king in his home,
of the afterlife and eternal rest,
in the land that time forgot..

and so it comes to pass,
the desert winds and sands,
have covered my most sacred land,
at peace it lay for centuries,
untouched by human hand,
then one day they came,
dug up and disturbed ,
my ancestors and their life,
in the land that time forgot..

so now i look upon those ancient faces,
i remember all the favourite places,
i used to walk and work and play among,
and listen to the ancient's song,
of love and peace and eternal life,
without the pain and hurt and strife,
and now i yearn again to be among,
the arms of a loved one gone,
in the land that time forgot..

Anubis my faithful friend,
lord of the underworld of the Dead,
may he be there for my weigh in,
may my soul be true and clean,
may he watch over and protect me,
till i reach the Other land,
may he be my friend for ever,
in eternal dreams of peace,
in the underworld,
in the land that time forgot..
